AN IN-PERSON EVENT

SEPTEMBER 25TH TO 29TH, 2023

ABOUT

In its 42nd edition, the Translator's Week, a scientific meeting that has taken place annually since 1980 and is organized by a committee with professors and students of the Translation major at São Paulo State University "Júlio Mesquita Filho" (UNESP) in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, will be held from September 25 to 29, 2023.

This year's meeting returns to an in-person format after occurring virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event carries on the tradition established by the Translator's Week meetings held in the past, which have provided space for the discussion of theoretical, critical, and practical issues on translation practices aiming at translators’ education to intensify the exchange of experiences between researchers and professionals from Brazil and abroad.

This year’s edition theme, Diversity: The Edges of Translation, aims to reflect on translation as a practice of inclusion of those who, for too long, have been excluded from this market and have been suffering from the scarcity of their presence in the translation field.

The aim of the Translator’s Week, geared to the recognition of translations and professionals who play the role of social inclusion, is to enable pre-service translators and professionals already in the market to exchange experiences in a broad space for debate and the sharing of knowledge.
